Recognized as a leader in Orthopaedic care in the Hampton Roads area, Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists initiated Physical Therapy and Hand Therapy services in 2004 to better serve our patients. Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists Physical Therapy (AOSPT) now has 5 locations in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk. Each of our facilities is staffed with experienced, Licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Certified Hand Therapists. Everyone on our PT team is committed to providing the highest level of care. All of our facilities feature the very latest in advanced physical therapy tools, technologies and equipment, all of which move our patients through their rehabilitation toward recovery.
Each patient referred to us receives a therapy evaluation and development of a plan of care which is then shared with the treating physician. A goal-oriented treatment program will be initiated by the appropriate therapist and will be designed to treat the orthopaedic problem(s). Our ultimate goal is for our patients to return to an active lifestyle at home and at work. The treatment progression includes instruction and education on protective body mechanics to facilitate healing and protect from future injury; manual skills to stretch, mobilize, or stabilize a joint(s) to restore proper functional motion; therapeutic exercises and functional activity training to improve motion, muscle strength, and stabilization endurance capacity of the orthopaedic areas involved.
